Hi
I bought a Samung S7 on Vodafone through Carphone Warehouse about 5 months ago and recently tried enable Wifi Calling. After much messing about and callling and chatting to customer services it turns out that I can't have this feature as I ddin't buy my phone directly from Vodafone. In fact the option to turn on Wifi Calling doesn't even show up on my phone, presumably because it hasn't been flashed with the correct firmware.
Has anyone else bought their phone from Carphonewarehouse and has the same problem? Or do they have the option available?
I was thinking of maybe paying to get the phone unlocked and then updating it to see if it pulls through the correct firmware update to enable wifi calling, but i'm not sure if this is even possible?

I agree entirely about the text message and wild goose chase.
But surely their advertising by definition is aimed at people who deal directly with the network. They certainly aren't encouraging people to deal with 3rd party dealers. Those dealers are the ones who should make it crystal clear that dealing with them would prevent customers from using Wi Fi calling.

Ok as an upate to this. After Vodafone was absolutely slaughtered for having such poor customer service I decided to call up and request a Sure Signal device (2nd time I've done this).
This time however they must have binned the old useless customer service team as I was put through to a really helpful Amercian bloke who I explained my issue too. Including the fact that I 'd tried to setup Wifi Calling on my phone but because it wasn't purchased direct from Vodafone it wouldn't work.
He then said he'd look into my problem, put me on hold for a bit and then came back and said he would try a workaround for enabling wifi calling on my Carphone Warehouse purchased S7. He told me he'd send me some settings and then call back in 30 mins to see if they have worked.
A few minutes later I looked at my phone and sure enough there is now a symbol in the top right corner showing a phone next to a wifi symbol, when I check my notification tray it says 'Vodafone Wifi Calling". He then called back and I tried the phone in an area of my house where I get no signal and it worked flawlessly. He explained it has now been enabled on my deivce. Top bloke!
As I said at the beginning of this thread Vodafone had the ability to enable the service all along, all they needed to do was send the settings.

Hi @Zammo76
All that has been done is information passed to you that's been made available via the help and support pages.
Now if a front line agent has taken it upon themselves to circumvent those criteria rules set by Vodafone then let's hope that's within his remit to do so.
You have a nice day.

Hi. Sorry but no one belittled you in any way, all everyone said was it is in Vodafone's own terms and conditions that for WiFi calling to work the phone had to be purchased direct from them, if this policy had now changed or they are providing a workaround then good luck to you.

Love all the back tracking on here.
I was belittled by people on here and also told there was no way my S7 could have WiFi calling as it didn't have a Vodafone ROM on it. But this have been proved totally incorrect. It was just simply Vodafones ##~~## poor policies towards customers and the 'not bothered in helping customers attitude' that their advisors were displaying. Which is pretty much mirrored on this sorry excuse for a forum. Good bye.

Bottom line is nothing is impossible, well if it works on one should work on another.
Does that mean that I can ask Vodafone to enable Wifi Calling on my Note4 has that has the Feature? :smileywink:
The person who has done it Kudos to them, however if he does not have the authority to do it, then I hope they have a very good reason when questioned. Personally if someone did this for me, then I will definitely not be Boasting about it on Social Media.
Also other thing to be questioned is when the Software is Upgraded will the feature still be there?

Hi there,
Not sure if you are still sturggling with this, but I have something for you to try.
I did buy the phone directly from Vodafone, but it took 3 days and countless phone calls to get this soltion from them as their technical team didn't have a clue!
The option wasn't even appearing on my menu and I was told that it was a fault with the phone or the firmware or software and there was nothing they could do.
Eventually one of the tech guys said to text the following:
CALLING three
to 97888
and wait 24 hours. I waited and then restarted the phone not expecting it in any way to work and it had magically appeared on the menu.
Please give it a try, I am now writing on all the forums I can because not even Vodafone's tech team know how to sort this problem!!
Hope this helps
