Your device had a problem connecting to the server

I have had a new Vodafone contract since Tuesday 21 February. The phone calls and texts work fine but the email will not set up and says:

 

Your device had a problem connecting to the server

 

I cannot get into BBM either and this is extremely frustrating. App world says:

 

Cannot get new token due to device offline state (error ID: 40760).

 

After ringing continuously all week Vodafone blamed Blackberry and Blackberry blamed Vodafone. Then Vodafone said there was a 'technical fault' and therefore a backlog of problems to sort. They told me it would take 24 hours. It's been 72 hours now. They told me to keep doing a battery pull which I am doing almost every hour. They also said to go to Host Routing Table and click register now which I have done every time the phone has come back on but I still get the above messages.

 

I am really angry and frustrated. Would be grateful for any advice but I begrudge staying in this contract if I am going to have to go any longer without the services I am paying for!

Hello, I wonder can anyone help? I'm having the issue described here in this old forum post.

 

I have a Blackberry 9900 and have two gmail accounts which have worked perfectly until yesterday, when emails stopped coming in and I saw I couldn't send them out either.

 

I tried rebooting and then figured if I removed the accounts and then reinstalled them, the problem might fix. When I try to remove the account I get a box saying "checking for updates" which stays for ages and then finally a message saying "your device had a problem connecting to the server".

 

My emails are coming in normally on my computer and playbook (not via Blackberry Bridge which isn't working either), and it does seem to be a problem only with my phone.

 

I haven't changed anything, or updated anything, that I can think of. The only thing that did happen is my daughter got a new phone and as part of the deal (both children's phones are on my account) we were shifted to a Red somethingorother plan so I could share 5GB data with the kids. Other than that (which happened yesterday), nothing else has changed.

 

Please help! I'm not very technically-minded so please be patient when explaining. Thanks.

If your internets not working also, it may be that your blackberry services have been removed from your account when the plan was changed.
