Downloaded Lollipop yesterday, what a big mistake! Several issues -

1. Lots of apps dissapeared

2. Google Play Store will not work

3. Can send and receive texts but can't read any I get as only get blank screen

4. My contacts have dissapeared.

 Please Vodafone help as use my phone for work and could lose business as a result.

You need to factory reset the phone. That's always the recommended course of action with Samsung Android phones after a major update. That should cure your problems.

But wont I lose everything on my phone?

You will but everything should be backed up anyway - if it isn't you're asking for trouble in any event. Here are the backup options:

Your texts and call log gets back up to your Samsung account (assuming you've enabled it) every day. When you restore the phone they will come back automatically.

Your photos can be backed up automatically to Google +. Even better they should be on a memory card that doesn't get wiped and not on the phone.

You contacts and calendar should be backed up to your email account  - gmail for most people or another service depending on what you're using.

I also copy the contents of the phone to my computer for belt and braces security.

Hi, you would need to back up photos etc that you want to keep.

A reset puts the phone back to an as new state, once you log in to your google account all your contacts will return, depending on how you have had your phone set up it may even reinstall your apps too.
