default on my credit report

Not happy at all.

Currently trying to get a mortgage as 1st time buyers and was rejected due to my credit rating. Ive signed up to see what the problem is which is suprise suprise 'vodafone' have defaulted my account.

I 1st had problems when i used the world traveler when i was in USA which is £5 a day and lets you use your mins and texts from your contract. I came home to a £400 bill. I disputed this and after several frustrating phone calls back and forth vodafone agreed this was there fault and they cancelled my direct debit so the £350 extra wouldn't come out of my account. However this never got rectified and my account still showed this extra money for the next 6 month with me having to ring up and pay my bill seperatley each month at a time to make sure i didn't fall behind.

It got to the point where i had to go into my local shop to get this extra money removed. When it came to the end of my contract with vodafone i rang up and cancelled due to this poor customer service to be told that i owe £80 roughly for the remaining months contract and around 30 quid from the previous month and that when i paid this my account would be closed. So i paid the money asked over the phone and signed upto a new phone deal with EE (who have been 10 times better than vodafone).

Forward 3 months down the line and i am getting letters from a debt collecting firm acting on behalf of vodafone saying i owe 137 quid and that

it will affect my credit. I was at first thinking this was a scam as i had closed my account to the best of my knowledge over the phone with an agent. I rang vodafone to confirm it wasnt a scam and they did want another 137 quid. I reluctantly paid the 137 as i was scared of it affecting my credit and knew i would be shortly require a mortgage.

After i pay the 137 quid i receive a letter again threatening that i owe 137 quid and i must settle this balance. I ignored this as it was shortly after i had paid 137 and thought it must be a delayed letter, which was in novemeber 2016. I then receive the same letter in December and January. So again i ring Vodafone explaining that i have paid this 3 months ago and the agent tells me to ignore it my account is clear. I then ask him if they have done anything to my credit score and he says no your account is all paid and settled and nothing we have done will affect your credit rating.

Today i see that vodafone have put a default on my account which i stopping us from being accepted for a mortgage for mine and my fiancee 1st house.

Please can anyone help or give any advice

Hello.

I appreciate and understand how damaging a default and or marker can be ,and the difficulty in having one removed from a Credit File.Below in Bold is a help guide that explains which department to ask for - 'Vodafone Credit File Support Team' - and how to add a 'Notice of Correction' via Experian. It is Free to add the Notice of Correction. This gives you the tools to add notes on your Credit File to explain why the Default is showing.

It would only be worth adding this if you think the default is wrong and shouldn't have been applied. Please take into consideration that a Default will only be removed if it was reported on your Credit File incorrectly.

This is why it's important to speak with Customer service first to clear up why this has happened before the Credit File Support Team can help.

I have also got a deafult on my credit report from Vodafone which has severly damaged my credit rating.

since last Septemeber I have contacted VF regarding my account and been told on numberous occasions there was nothing to pay and my account has been closed (I have transcripts of these conversations).

On one occasion I was told that there was an amount of £21.65 left to pay which I did over the phone on 8.11.2016.

Even last month I spoke to an advisor on the chat feature and was told that my account was closed and nothing left to pay yet STILL I have a default on my credit report, what is going on?!?!?!
