The phone that you’ve received was this from a new connection or was this from repair or an insurance claim?

If this is a new contract, use the 14 day cooling off period to return it and start again. Don't mess around with a repair. Don't keep the device either. If it gets worse, or there's another problem down the line, Vodafone will ahve to class it as damage and won't be able to do any warranty work. Samsung may, but I wouldn't take that chance.
