I'm a new boy to iPhone. I've been sending texts as normal but it appears that they go as iMessages to those with iPhones. The person couldn't identify my number. Do these come as part of price plan or chargeable? Also when I turned the option off it wouldn't do anything. I thought it would send a text instead. Any help appreciated

Hi

iMessages sent to other iPhones are free to send and receive and are indicated by the blue bubble they show up as.

All that is needed is that a persons Mobile Data is turned on.

 help info on iMessage is https://support.apple.com/en-gb/HT201287 and https://www.apple.com/uk/ios/messages/

If you go into ->

Settings
Messages
Send And Receive.

Ensure a ✔️ Is next to your mobile number and emails both in 'You can be reached by iMessage at' and 'Start New Conversation From'

Current Phone  >

Samsung Galaxy s²⁴ Ultra 512gb.

Just one extra comment - they are free at both ends as long as both users are within their data allowances. If you are over your allowances you would be charged for using more data by sending an iMessage just the same as Whatsapp or BBM.
