iPhone Carrier Update 16.1 Query.

Hello there,

I've recently updated my iPhone 5s to 7.1 and installed the new carrier update.

Under the Settings>Mobile>Mobile Data Network there's a bit saying LTE Setup (Optional.)

What does this mean for us?

Hi chaddite2013,

The LTE option refers to 4G which the phone can use if you’re on a 4G price plan and there is 4G in your area.

I am on a 4G plan and in a 4G area but the LTE settings are blank. Should I be filling them in?

You shouldn’t need to add any settings, just switch it on.

If you go into the settings, what information are you asked for?

If I go into Mobile data & Mobile Data Network I have:-

Mobile data

APN wap.vodafone.co.uk

username wap

password ***

LTE Setup (optional)

APN    (which is blank)

Username (which is blank)

Password (which is blank)

Then I have MMS

and personal Hotspot

to use 4G efficiently do I need to define an APN & Username & Password?

You shouldn’t need any extra settings but I’d try using the following.

APN: INTERNET

Username: web

Password: web

Give this a go and let me know how you get on.

It appears that you are asking if you can unlock a Vodafone UK handset?  Yes, it can be unlocked - the original owner will need to request the unlocking for you.

Testing with and without LTE settings as per below I get a 50% speed increase for download and much more on the upload in excess of 60% using the following:

APN: INTERNET
Username: web
Password: web

Also this has fixed my sms not going through issues. I could receive but not send sms's
