hi i changed from o2 to vodafone nearly two weeks ago, i recieved new phone and put my o2 sim in new phone as i was not getting my number changed over for a few days after. i was told to keep my phone off on tuesday 23rd and my old number would be changed over, this did not happen. i rang vodafone three times telling everyone i spoke to that i had put o2 sim card in but they all told me that would not be the problem. the last person i spoke to told me to go into a vodafone shop and they would exchange phone. i went in on wednesday 24th and the man basicially laughed at me and said they would deffinately not be exchanging phone as it was my fault for putting the o2 sim in, he said he had unlocked phone but would take 72 hours to unlock, it is now five days and its still not unlocked. is there a 14 day get out from this contract beacause it is a complete joke!!!!!

Hi @michaela1
Welcome to the eForum.
Phones brought directly from Vodafone are locked to the Vodafone network.
As you’ve brought the phone from a third party, the phone will lock to the network of the first SIM card entered into the phone.
In this case, you’ll need to go to O2 to get the phone unlocked.
Cheers,
Laura

Hi Laura,
I have the SAME exact problem, however, Virgin cannot fix it as the phone was not registered with them.
Please help - i've been going around in circles.
Thanks

Where did you buy the phone from?

Phones from CPW lock themselves to the network of the first sim that is inserted.
To unlock the phone you wil either have to get CPW to ask Vodafone to update your record with the IMEI number of the phone to your account or for you to send a copy of the original sales receipt to Vodafone and ask them to update your account
