"Vodafone Connect and Media server issues

Hi

I have recently connected to Vodafone broadband and I am using the Vodafone Connect router. So far I am impressed with the speed and quality of the router, but I cannot see my media server on my Xbox 360 any more. The NAS I am using is the Seagate Goflex Home. I have not had any problems with previous routers and I am sure I am missing the obvious in the set up. Any help would be gratefully recieved. Thanks in advance.

@coopermarsh @neukenuk @Anonymous Apologies for the error with the link.

Throughout August and September an automatic software update to our routers was released. This included an update to the router’s homescreen so it’s more user friendly and corrected a few bugs that were found in the past, like the issue with some LAN (your dedicated home network) media streamers and strengthened our router’s security.

If anyone is still experiencing issues with LAN media streamers following the update, please get in touch with our Broadband team through Live Chat or when calling 08080 034 515. They will then investigate this further.

Well @natasha, we are still facing the problem and I have resorted to piggy backing my own router onto back of Vodafone Connect and treating it like a rubbish modem that is consuming more electricity.

Unsprisingly I dont have any issues anymore and not had reboot the Vodafone Connect or my own router since; but what is irking me that I shouldn't need two devices to do the job of one when "your" equipment is clearly at fault and Vodafone is not treating customers fairly by allowing them to resolve their own issues by allowing them to use their own equipment.

Vofafone is obviously not prepared for power users and treats them as idiots and only Vodafone knows better, when clearly they don't. So when working with HUAWEI, you would think they would be working with a world class who would be able to fix this issue with relative ease, except they have a history of copying others ideas and not understand the what and how.

@Natasha, The mere fact that i have to reboot my router for my IOS devices to see the media players and other lan devices is an issue.

Again, last night I had to do it. twice in 3 days. there seems to be an inherent issue with your 2,4 and 5ghz Wi-Fi radio working together on the same SSID.

All I get now since moving to Vodafone is every member of my household asking why we moved from BT.

It's cheaper is my standard response, but I suppose you pay for what you get.

Roll on May when my deal is up.

Exactly the same here........

Has eveyone got the latest frimware update ? seems to have been one fairly recently ( in the last few days ) that addresses some of the needs people have mentioned - splitting the 2.4 GHz and 5GHz bands for instance.

Hi, I believe I've finally found a workaround to get the port forwarding on the Vodafone router working! For some bizarre reason, you have to turn off the router firewall completely, save the settings and then re-enable it again (and save the settings again). Once you've done this port forwarding will start working. Very weird but it looks like a bug in the router firmware. This workaround will work until they fix it! Enjoy! Greg
