"Vodafone Connect and Media server issues

Hi

I have recently connected to Vodafone broadband and I am using the Vodafone Connect router. So far I am impressed with the speed and quality of the router, but I cannot see my media server on my Xbox 360 any more. The NAS I am using is the Seagate Goflex Home. I have not had any problems with previous routers and I am sure I am missing the obvious in the set up. Any help would be gratefully recieved. Thanks in advance.

@petervdh @BigBEn @EHExplorer We're still looking into this.

As soon as we have further information, we'll be in touch.

Hi can i add i think this issue is also blocking Googlecast via the router. When i connect directly to my Smart Tv via wifi direct it works but go via the Vodafone router and nothing.

Please can we get the Googlecast and DLNA issues resolved please.

Hi Hussain77

There are 2 key things that sometimes cause a Chromecast dongle not to play nice.  The first is Access Point isolation.  I don't know if this is available for you to change on the Vodafone Router but it may be worth looking into.  You need to ensure that this is disabled.

The other thing that can affect a Chromecast is WPS - if it won't connect to the router, try disabling WPS.  Most times that will sort the issue out.  You can often enable WPS again once it has connected.

Casting is the one thing that does actually work for me using Chromecast. Every now and then I have an issue, but that seems to be more to do with the client I'm casting from on my phone than the network/router.

Hi thanks for the advice. I cannot see anyway in the options to disable or enable isolation. If someone knows please help me.

Also i thought its worth saying that im not using Chromecast dongle but my tv has Googlecast in built.

Not sure if that changes anything.

Sorry forgot to say WPS is disabled.

Please see our statement regarding a resolution to the issue you've all been experiencing.

After some broadband stability issues, I finally thought things were sorted, until I came across the issue being experienced here.  Most of my devices are WiFi enabled but some aren't (namely a Synology NAS/Media Server, a Vodafone SureSignal, a Sonos bridge and an HP Printer).  I'm using a switch in one instance but others connect directly to the ports on the Vodafone router.

I experience the same media server/DLNA issues described above, but I've also noticed that after a few hours my Synology/SureSignal/HP Printer loose internet connection.  They're still on the LAN and I can see them, but they all report that internet access has gone (via Wifi it's still there...).

I've spent days trying to get to the bottom of it and then I found this forum!  I've convinced myself that the issues are related in some way - ethernet port/forwarding/filtering issues of some description.  The log data on the router is very poor and doesn't help with diagnostics.

P.S. If I connect my SmartTV via Wifi it remains connected to the internet, via ethernet, it'll drop after a few hours.  Unplugging/re-plugging the ethernet cable to the router resolves the issue for a few hours...

Come on Vodafone, you've promised investigation for some time now.
