sony xperia z1 stopped working

Hi,

 

I was using my Sony Z1 last night when it all of a sudden stopped working. the screen froze and turned black after few seconds. I can see the light flashing at the top but I am not able to get it working again. Buttons are not working. I had this phone for 1 year and 3 months...is it still covered with a warranty?

Hi

You would need to check on Sonys UK support site but I believe it's covered for one year.

Have you tried hooking the phone up to a wall charger (try an alternative wall charger too if possible just incase ) or Pc / Mac to see if it kicks into life ?

Their are other avenues but beware this can delete saved data in the phone thus typically a back up before hand is advised if possible.

This is called a hard reset and this is the the link to explain how to carry the procedure out.

well that's a bit unfortunate that my contract is for two years but the handset is covered for only one! I had this phone 1 year and two months and it just stopped working without any apparent reason. I tried the resets you suggested and nothing happens...It is terribly inconvenient as I really don't want the hassle right now and would like to have a phone...

Sony actually have a 2 year warranty for the handsets and a 1 year warranty for their accessories

Scroll down to page 8 and you will see this. It also states this on page 13 of Important Information guide that comes with your handset

As I said I wasn't sure on the exact length of warranty so by checking and by using the link kindly added by @aidey68 that will clarify.

I'm sorry the resets didn't work and would now suggest if this was my phone to approach Sony who I'm sure will assist as I find the manufacturer knows their software and hardware better sometimes than a 3rd party repair centre , or contact Vodaphone if that route is more convenient for you.

I hope this gets sorted out for you swiftly.
