sure signal 3 range problem

Hi, 10 days ago I set up a sure signal 3 for use with my 32gb iphone 5. I had no problems registering it and everything seems to be working fine (lights are on and phone light goes on when making a call or using 3g). However, the range is terrible - I get a good signal in the room where the ss is plugged in but it drops right off as soon as you step outside the room. The ss is plugged into a sky router. Is there something I'm missing or a good fix for this? I was led to believe I'd have 5 bars throughout the house. Thanks for any guidance you can give!

Hi David,

Thanks for confirming back.

It could be the connection or the unit. To rule out one or the other could you test the Sure Signal on an alternative internet connection for an hour or so? If this still happens on a friend or relatives broadband connection then we can get the Sure Signal in for repair.

Let me know the outcome when you've had a chance to test it. :Smiling:

Cheers, Ben

Hi,

I've just bought a SS 3 and the range is appauling.  As others are finding, if I'm not in the room where the SS is the signal drops right off to No Service, even though it displays the correct light configuration.

I'm using an iPhone 4S which is a 3G phone, and receives 3G signal in the room where the SS is located.  This phone is the only device registered and using the SS.   The SS is about 3 feet from the router. The broadband supplier provides me with a good 10mb service.

I do live in a stone cottage with thick walls but even when I'm downstairs in the room directly below the SS, where there is only the usual joist/floorboard and plaster floor construction between I still get No Service.  This is more than a little frustrating for sure.

I would prefer to re-locate my SS downstairs away from my router which is upstairs in a study room.  I have a TP Link network in the house so was wondering if I could plug my SS into a wall socket and connect it to an adjacent TP Link adapter via the ethernet port in the TP Link adapter.  Would this work ok as it would use my house wiring to make a hard wire link back to the TP Link adapter that is connected to my router?
