I have a vss v1  ... had it for ages and from time to time it has stopped working but generally managed to get it going.

This time it seems to have stopped for ages  .. just the power light 1 is on and we recently re-registered the device to get it working

Have tried a hard reset of the vss a few times but to no avail

Now we have had the device for years and never had to set up any port forwarding in the virgin router .. DO I REALLY HAVE TO ? I thought these things were idiot proof 😞

Seem to remember one vodafone tech person telling me to change the wireless channel on the router .. is that right ?

Can someone resync the device remotely and provide some help here ?

We have 3 vodafone accounts and pay  ~£100 per month and cant use the phones at home !

Hi citrus,

Your power supply is heavily under rated.

The rating of the power supply has to be at least 12Volts @1.5 Amps 18va .to function correctly.

Your unit  500 m/a  =  .5 Amp 6va

so it can only provide a third of the required power.

Saying that, because it managed to reach the 4th. light, it proves that it is the power supply at fault.

Off to Amazon or Ebay for you!!  :smileywink:

Just search in either site for 'Sure Signal power supply'.

Regards ,

Mike.

Hi citrus,

I'm not sure enough to say this is your problem or not, but being an elderly V1, it could be that your power supply is degrading to the point where it can no longer fully power your Sure Signal.

This is now a very common problem with the V1 and the diagnosis isn't very easy, the only easy way is by substitution. but after around 5 years of continuous use, it requires replacing anyway unless you aready have.

Ignore the fact that the power light is on, that's a red herring!

If you require a replacement, they are readily available on Amazon or Ebay and cost around £10 inc. delivery.

Good luck,

Mike.

good idea   ... will give that a shot  ... 10% of a new unit would make sense to try that first  ... mind you I have a big box of power transformers that I have built up in my man draw  .. might look there first ...

will give that a go and report back ..thanks,

Hi citrus,

If you have a redundant 12v D.C. adapter that would be great to test with! Or even one you can borrow from something like a external hard drive or similar.

The full requirements are 12 volt @1.5 Amp with a 2.5x 5.5mm

connector.

A 2 amp unit would be fine, or a 1 amp might just

be enough to prove the point.

Regards,

Mike.
