Anyone had this experience and any tips aside from choose another ISP?
I have had Vodafone fttc broadband since they started in this field. It works fine but have decided to upgrade to the full fibre Pro service now that our road has had fibre installed.
After 4 failed upgrade orders I’m losing the will to continue. I requested to keep the old copper landline number with this move to full fibre, we don’t call out but having had the landline number for 30 years we have friends and relatives that call on it hence want to retain it.
The crunch, I’ve been told by VF that the order to upgrade is failing each time with the first step on the openreach side, seems they cannot accommodate retaining the landline number and have said I could try placing a new order thus losing the landline number which as noted we want to retain. Other option was to wait a few months and try again.
I’m astonished that the move to full fibre cannot be done due to me wanting to retain the number, I get that some folks just use mobiles but there must be a lot of folks like us that will want to keep their landline for incoming calls when as a nation I understand that we will all be subject to the copper to fibre move in 2025.
Thoughts?

If what Vodafone have told you is true (that Openreach can't accommodate keeping the number) the same would presumably happen whoever you go to.
However, Openreach will have nothing to do with the phone number when you go to full fibre, as the phone will be provided over VoIP by the ISP, so I think I would take what you are being told with a large pinch of salt.

Sure enough, encountered the same issue with retaining the home number with BT (also use open reach) and as such I’ve gone with the suggested VF route to cancel the old service on copper and start afresh with full fibre along with a new 6 digit home number (used for incoming calls from time to time). VF was £12/month less than BT but I have to say BT customer service were easy to get through to, responsive and fast to help so perhaps something in there about pay your money take your choice.

Yes, but all those £12's add up.
£144 in the first year, and how often do you need support?

Now on VF PRO full fibre and glad it’s all done, thanks for replies along the way all.

As pointed out above, Open Reach have nothing to do with what actually comes down the lines they maintain.
I've just moved from Virgin to Vodaphone full fibre b/band and requested to have my landline number transferred, Virgin are supposedly very difficult regarding handing over phone numbers but it all went through perfectly for me so it makes no sense that you get told it's OR. How are you contacting VF to be told it's Open Reach's fault?
Try Vodaphones facebook messenger service and they will sort it for you, they sorted out my account which was locked and and refused all new passwords attempts. They arranged for my account to be cleansed and reactivated and it worked perfectly as they can access your account after various security checks to be sure you are the account holder.

Thanks, will try that next if I have the emotional strength to keep going, I’ve persisted as I think the Pro II looks a good bit of kit. A neighbour took full fibre with Zzoomm and said it was oh so simple and seamless so I’ll probably look there next.

I think I should seriously consider zzoomm, neighbours rate them.
the reason for persisting with VF was my want to retain incoming calls on the home number for free and the PRO router and boosters looks good
