Will my BT account cancel automatically and can I still port my old number ?

I assume you are moving from FTTC to FTTP. If that is not the case, please give us more info.

Switching the other way, from Vodafone to BT, and Vodafone have already confirmed the broadband and landline will be cancelled on my transfer date.  Vodafone has also already provided the labels to return the router for recycling!
