Cannot Connect to Windows Update or Play Games on Vodafone Broadband

Hello,

I recently got vodafone broadband and since then, I can connect to the internet fine, browsing is fine and fast enough but windows update cannot reach the update server and games do not seem to be able to connect. It's not the firewall, have tried turning that off and is on multiple devices both windows 10 and 11.

Does anyone know how to fix this

Go into the router's settings and change the dns servers to 208.67.222.222 and 208.67.222.220. See if that makes a difference.

If you are not sure about a specific DNS suggestion you can always search for it.  So the ones @Ripshod gave you are the Cisco OpenDNS servers - pretty darn safe

Just to explain the previous comments, just in case you wondered.

It is probably the Vodafone content controls blocking some connections. They are DNS based, so by using different DNS servers you bypass them

You could also change the settings for the content controls directly, but changing the DNS servers is probably easier.
