Connect 3rd Party Router with Vodafone Broadband

Hi all,

So I have picked up a TP-Link VR600. I am trying to configure what needs to be added. I do have another Router that I want to use however it only it supports PPPOE however not too sure if it supports Option 60.

I have configured the VR600 under Bridge mode with the VLAN of 101. At my 3rd party router, do I put the PPPOE credentials over there and pray a connection is made?

The TP-Link VR600 is an ADSL/VDSL modem/router, used with VF Superfast 1 or 2 you plug it into a phone socket set the service username (ending in @ broadband.vodafone.co.uk), service password, VLAN 101 and that is all you need to do for a basic connection!   *Option 60 is not required!

If you are trying to connect this to FTTP (Gigafast) then it'll use one of the LAN ports as a WAN port which you connect via ethernet cable to the ONT/PON.  Again you need the PPPoE service name and password, but you'll either need to leave the VLAN clear/0 or set it to 911.

Right, okay, So I don't need the router to support Option 60 or 61? My customer uses the VF Superfast package so it's FTTC which is VDSL. I'll see what happens. Hopefully it works. Thanks for the help. Much appreciated

That is only required for Sky/Now as far as I know.

On the nose!

So reading the value from the Vigor 130 modem I get:

 vdsl vendorid status

% User define CPE Vendor ID is  OFF
% vid0:vid1 = 0x00fe7244:79612f21

So it is indeed off!

*Odd one, and I've never realised it before, but outside of the terminal window (as above), the Vigor 130 only gives access to setting options directly from the MPoA settings page and not from the PPPoE/PPPoA page!
