Gigafast Upload vs Download

I've just upgraded to Gigafast, and I'm getting very different upload and download speeds.

Various speed test sites give ~110Mb/s upload and 900+ Mb/s download. This with a pc plugged into an ethernet port on he router.

Does anyone else have this discrepancy?

Also, the ethernet light on the ONT flickers a little.

Is your fibre provided by openreach? Sounds like it is. With Cityfibre the upload and download are the same. With openreach there's a huge difference.

The flickering ethernet light is just indicating traffic.

I've found the answer!

When using speed testing sites, eg google's fiber (us spell) or ookla. you can select the site, eg Vodafone Bracknell.

For regular VDSL, these sites are consistent. However, with Gigafast, some of them appear to throttle the upload speed.

So, with VF and some others I was getting the ~900 download and ~120 upload.

However, with some others I was getting the full 900/900.

Moral of the story: Try different sites of the upload seems slow.
