Hi all, I am being upgraded to Fibre (not by my instigation, Vodafone say Cityfibre needs to remove the copper line) but have a question.
There is no WAN port and no Tel ports on my HHG2500 router. I have tried explaining this to customer services but they are stubbornly refusing to send a new router. One rep said "the telephone goes into an ethernet port" and tech support said, "we will send you a router after the installation if it is needed."
Neither of these answers are reassuring, even if the router is somehow compatible. I am tempted to just switch to an alternative provider and not risk being cut off from internet and landline.
Any ideas?

The engineers that do the install have a tick-box on the ULA that indicates that the full installation was not completed due to a lack of equipment. This would (should) be reported back to the ISP. Keep pestering them though.

Thanks Ripshod. I'll get back to them when I've recovered from the frustrating 90 mins I spent on the phone this morning. The Vodafone systems are so rigid, noone seems sufficiently empowered to do anything when "Compu'er says no."

It really is unbelievable that the agents on the phone could be so unknowledgeable.
How long have you been using the HHG2500, the THG3000 has been the standard router for about 4 years.
Try reporting your situation via the live chat, they usually seem more clued up.

Thanks Jayach. I'm sufficiently tech savvie to understand a RJ11 VOIP adapter doesn't go into a LAN port, but not surprised at customer services. The real frustration begins when you are talking with tech support and they flat out refuse to beleive that a HG2500 doesn't have a WAN port and talk at you like you're a halfwit.
I'll be happy if the cityfibre guy can screwdriver the box and make a port magically appear. If not I can repurpose the Asus DSL56 I currently use as a switch/extender.
