No-one at Vodafone CS can change your gateway, not even a level 3 tech. Your gateway is decided via a fully automated system along with it's recently added "load balancing" algorithms. We've been down thus rabbit hole before, in a thread that spanned over 12 months. Vodafone reps gathered and collated our account details so they could look into it further, but that came to nowt. A few of us raised it up to "complaint" level but still nada.

More recently I opened my own thread with regards to my own situation where my routing was causing speed issues. In my chats to customer services I was brushed off with comments like "that's impossible", "you're imagining it" and the old favourite "it's being caused by your own equipment". I'll bet a few of the members here doubted me too. Less than a month ago I played a hunch and upgraded my service to a higher speed. Even though I'm still on the Edinburgh gateway I now get full speed 24/7. And it's cheaper - go figure.

I think right now your best bet would be to raise an official complaint. I'm not at my computer tonight but I'm sure another member can post the link for you.

It's actually at the bottom of the page, but here it is anyway:

Complaints Code of Practice | Vodafone UK

it blows my mind how these ISP's barley have control over there own broadbands xD .

"that's impossible", "you're imagining it" and the old favourite "it's being caused by your own equipment" - Ive heard this all before aswell .

For speed ive never cared for speeds as i dont need speed when it comes to competitive gaming but i used to get 72-74 download . then when the openreach engineers did a " Lift and shift " they put me on my own card slot so i dont share with others and now im at maxed speeds in a 80/20 cab  .

@VPMagpie  It is not the fault of the ISP, it is the way that telecommunications was de-nationalised. The bulk delivery infrastructure is separated from the service providers in the same way as it has been done for the railways and the electricity network. It is no use at all complaining about it here and you should make your comments to Ofcom and probably your local MP if it bothers you so much.

no one in the post is complaining . Im trying to get the best service i can .

Okay. Then your best option is to just leave it alone, let it run 24/7 without interrupts and let DLM recover.

“ However, with it's mega retransmit the Speed profile can actually feel laggy “

Ive seen all over that Fastpath / speed profile with interleave off is better for gamers as it lowers ping times etc but i do kind of unserstand what your saying aswell because if its taking longer to retransmit maybe thats where the problem is / that i feel when gaming . Because i be playing cod for example and i shoot first die first . People just taking so long to die but when they shoot me i drop almost instantly

On  my router stats for download my interleaver depth is 16 and upload interleaver depth is 1 . Does that mean my download is been interleaved ? and if so is there a way to get it turned off to see if it helps

And i do that that BT you can request for interleave to be turned on or off and ask to change profile as i have confirmed it with them the other day , But why wpuld BT be able to and not vodaphone or sky ?

It is because it is the BT infrastructure everyone is using and BT have good connection with openreach since openreach was with BT at one point if i remember ?

Your BMQ's show your latency is a bit higher than gamers would like at approx. 15ms. Probably means you are not on the best gateway for where you live. Unfortunately there is nothing you can do about that as that is a perfectly acceptable figure for a domestic broadband supplier.

Here is mine for comparison:

As you can see my latency is under 10ms now I'm on a gateway close to where I live, when they had me on Leeds/Manchester mine was about the same as yours.

I've brought Latency up beforei in another of this member's threads. Either they missed it or just plain ignored it.

Sounds like someone just wants to find an excuse to leave one of the uk's cheaper broadband deals, or wanted fttp.

BTW my pings are usually above 18, but I can still frag as good as the next guy.

I'm not sure about that, I think they genuinely just want a better broadband experience, but don't know how to get it.

@VPMagpie  It does raise a good point though, do you know when FTTP will be available to you?
