Hi
I've just upgraded from Superfast 1 to Superfast 2 but the link speed is still exactly the same as it was on SF1. i.e. 35Mbps/6Mbps.
I've tried to chat to Vodafone but they just keep repeating that the speed is better than the guaranteed minimum so it's just tough.
I still suspect that I haven't been upgraded. After all, everything looks identical to me to the old SF1 connection.
Is there a way to see which connection I'm on? DSL Mode or anything?
Thanks for any help.
Steve

Please post the stats from your router, like this:

Well your SNR's say you have room for more speed on both the upload and download. The strange thing is you should have been getting a higher upload while you were on Superfast1 (Max 10) so something is wrong.
Have you tried with the router connected to the test socket?

Hi Jayach
I haven't tried that yet, I'll give that a go and let you know if it changes anything.
So, from the info I've sent does it look like a SF2 connection or is there no way to tell?

Numbers when connected to the test socket look about the same:
Line Quality
Current Rate | 34999 kbps | 5999 kbps |
Maximum Rate | 42222 kbps | 7694 kbps |
Signal-to-Noise Ratio | 9.3 dB | 9.2 dB |
Attenuation | DS1 17.0 dB, DS2 45.3 dB, DS3 70.0 dB | US0 7.7 dB, US1 36.9 dB, US2 N/A |
Power | 13.5 dBm | -5.5 dBm |
CRC Errors in last 0 minute(s) | 0 | 0 |
K (number of bytes in DMT frame) | 0 | 0 |
R (number of bytes in RS code word) | 8 | 8 |
S (RS code word size in DMT frame) | 0.1517 | 0.4749 |
D (interleaver depth) | 16 | 8 |
Delay | 0 ms | 0 ms |

In that case you need to report it to Vodafone as a fault. Call on 08080 034 515 or use chat and if they refuse to raise a fault call, raise a complaint. Vodafone complaints (keep it in the test socket, it will speed up fault finding)
You should certainly be getting a higher speed, there is definitely something wrong. The SNR should be around 6, which will result in the speed being increased.

OK, I reported it as a fault to VF.
I've just had a call from their technical support team. The problem with that is that their techie had never heard of Signal-to-Noise ratios let alone understand their influence on DSL connections. All she could do was tell me there's no fault on the line and I'd need to speak to the upgrade team if I want a faster connection. Plus the usual 'you're getting more than the guaranteed minimum so there's no problem'.
So, that's a non-starter. I think I'm just destined to have a 35Mbps connection.

Unbelievable, no wonder they are the most complained about provider according to Ofcom.
You could try the complaint route, but even if they do resolve it you may not get a lot more.
It probably just needs a DLM reset. Not sure if ISP's can do that themselves now or if it still requires Openreach to do it.
It really shouldn't be this hard. They are hopeless.
