LAN Speed locked to 100mb

I've checked my gigabox's LAN speed and it says all the ports are at 100mb when our actual speed is around 400 - 450mb. I usually get around 400 - 450mb on wifi but the ethernet speed is locked to around 90 - 100mb. I am using a cat 6 cable and the ethernet port on my computer is capable of reaching 1gb.LAN.PNG

Looking back at that Dec 2022 image I noticed that IP6 was on. Could turning off IP6 help? After all it's not supported by Vodafone.

I don't think so, the LAN speed is negotiated by the Ethernet hardware/firmware.

I think I must have upset the poster who now shows as Anonymous, they have removed themselves from the forum.

Shame, as I would like to have found out why they were getting an apparently different speed on the Vodafone router to the Now one. Now we will never know.

Not deliberate, no. But I did notice it as I posted and though it looked odd.

I had similar problems after upgrading from a 100Mbps service to 150Mbps. I was still getting the same download as previously (about 95Mbps). Over wifi I was getting 150Mbps.

My thoughts were that router settings needed changing but couldn't see how to do this. Calls to Vodaphone didn't solve the problem. Some agents tried, one just had the attitude that I was getting the guaranteed minimum speed. One agent was aware of the cable spec requirements.

I checked the ethernet port and set it to 1 Gbps Duplex. No change.

I checked the cable specs - Cat5e. This should be OK.

Eventually I tried a different cable from the router to the PC again Cat5e but Belkin brand. Success!

As a double check, I reinstalled the original cable and the download dropped back.

Because the wifi speed was OK, I assume the cable in to the router was working to spec.
