I recently renewed with Sky after which they attempted to hike my prices even more ridiculously higher and I decided enough was enough. The very next day a letter from Vodafone came through my door offering me fibre broadband with the Amazon Tech Pack 3, essentially everything I had before just without Sky TV (but gaining the Amazon Firestick 4k) except it was £50 a month cheaper than Sky. As I have been a Vodafone mobile customer for nearly 20 years straight now I thought it would be a good time to take up the offer seeing as they were offering me further discounts.
When I rang up to accept the offer and arrange the broadband switch, Vodafone first told me that they couldn't provide it to my address and they could only offer the more expensive and less capable 4G/5G mobile broadband packages. As I live next door to an active airfield, there is a lot of interferance and we barely get phone signal here, let alone 4G/5G so this just isn't an option for me.
I checked on the Vodafone website and it says they can provide their broadband to my neighbour but not me, even though our houses are about 6 metres apart and both go through the same cabinets. When I again rang Vodafone to query this, I was told that although the website says no, they probably can once I have re-registered the address with the post office and then confirmed with BT Openreach that FTTC is available. I have since done both of these and confirmed it all, with BT themselves stating in writing that Vodafone should be able to provide me with broadband.
I rang Vodafone once more to tell them this and was told yet again they cannot provide it, and when I asked them if there was someone with technical knowledge who could explain why it wasn't available to me, but was to my neighbour, they simply said that they provide 'ports' on a first come first serve basis and I am simply too late. Apparently there is nothing they can do, and I have now cancelled my Sky provisions due to being told otherwise. Can anyone please explain what is going on without trying to sell me anything or be entirely dismissive of my genuine queries!
Many thanks!
Dave

Unfortunately, no one will be able to explain it because it is inexplicable. If you you look around the forum you will see lots of post with the same/similar problems. Vodafone's database seems completely screwed and no one wants to do anything about it.
