New to Vodafone home broadband today. Broadband is working fine on my laptop via Wi-Fi. But with my android phones with 3 and Virgin I can connect to the router via Wi-Fi, but they do not connect to the internet. Phone says connected no internet. It's not a password problem phones connect to router but not internet. Can't understand why WI-FI works on my laptop but the phones do not connect to the internet. They did this morning with my old broadband provider so phones can connect to the internet. Help please phones are Motorola E4plus.

Hello @Paulst955
That's certainly a conundrum.
May I assume your phones connect to other sources of Wi-Fi such as friends home broadband etc ?
As a first step I would first suggest to go into the phones Wi-Fi connection settings and forget the Network and then reset up again.
Please also check any relevant settings in your phone for instance in it's Wi-Fi settings , and app settings and any Data Monitoring section.
This may be a case of trial and error the find the culprit settings.
See if a Community Forum Search or a Google Search yield any results.
I wish you all the best with this situation

Hi @Paulst955
The phones are probably defaulting to your previous provider for connection. Go into your WiFi, click on the three dots at the top of the screen, advanced, manage networks and delete your previous network.
If this has already been done, you may need to facory reset the phone to clear out any previous stored history for your previous provider.

Update internet failed completely a little while after I first posted. So phoned Vodafone help no 08080034515 this morning after struggling for 5 minutes with auto answer machine finally got to speak to someone. After just a few minutes its all sorted, apparently some settings needed changing Vodafone's end so not a problem my end.
PS if someone at Vodafone reads this your auto answering machine is rubbish. IE I say to it my problem is no internet its says go online and look at FAQ, whoever programmed that answer needs sacking. Just make it very easy to talk to someone. Rant over

Out of curiosity they used to have the instrumental version of Soft Cell "Youth has Gone" as the hold music - is it still there? Whoever set it up had a "mischievous" sense of humour!

I was very lucky did not get put on hold, getting thought the auto answer machine was a pain but when I was put though to a person it rang then immediate answer so no hold music.
