Overhead fibre installation

Good Morning All,

I am having the Ultrafast 500 package installed on 7/07. I know this will be an overhead fibre installation due to the works that have been carried out to the telegraph pole, however can someone advise how I can find out if it’s a Cityfibre or Openreach installation?

Many Thanks

Ashley

For cityfibre the quoted upload is close to the quoted download. For openreach the upload is much lower.

You must have these figures somewhere.

If you can't remember the quoted figures, just pop your postcode in here and see what is quoted:

Thanks for the replies everyone, I was indeed quoted the lower upload speeds. However when the engineers where running the fibre to the telegraph pole ahead of the upcoming installation they appeared to be working for Cityfibre?

You could see if CityFibre are in your area here: Homes (cityfibre.com)

Openreach here: Fibre broadband | Openreach

I might be wrong here but it was my understanding that only Openreach use Overhead cables via poles?

I had thought that, but I know of at least one where they have used overhead.

If it's existing telegraph poles it'll almost certainly be OpenReach!  If it's new poles that have been put in place then it could be either!

Not quite. Openreach allow other providers to use their poles now under PIA. I get my CityFibre service from an Openreach pole that's been there for years.

In case anyone else wonders what PIA is: Physical Infrastructure Access(PIA) (openreach.co.uk)

Don't you find it annoying when people use TLA's without explaining them.😉
