Hi I’m having trouble connecting my to link router to Vodafone, I’ve used the username and password from voda and vlad ID IS 911. There’s no internet connection still so is there anything I have to do? Voda are telling me I can’t use my own router with this plan.

Are you using cityfibre/vodafone for the 100mb?. If so username and vlan 911 should work fine set priority to 0. Make sure you set your DNS servers to google's are anything better than vodafones own ones. If you are using BT they don't use vlan they use DHCP you don't need to configure anything.

I’m using an open reach ont with fttp, I just used what vodafone gave me. I troubleshooted with both Voda and tp link chat, Voda told me I can’t use my own router as different isp’s get allocated different areas where customers can use their own.

You can use your own router...

I have the same plan as you (FTTP via Openreach) and I am using a TP-Link Deco Mesh Router X20. My Vodafone Hub is stored safely away in its original box just in case I need to put it back in the event of a fault.

All you need is your own unique PPPoE username and password as shown in my example bellow:

Username: dsl000000000 @ broadband . vodafone . co  . uk

Passsowrd: a0AaAaAa

Make sure that you have entered both the username and password correctly. It's easy to mistake a "0" for a "o" and such like. Power down the ONT, connect an Ethernet from the ONT to the WAN port of the TP-Link and wait for the three green led's to illuminate on the ONT and then power up the TP-Link router.

If it isn't obvious from the previous you should not need to use a VLAN setting with Openreach. (If you did it would be 101)

EDITED**

ok it’s working now, I want to thank you all for the help. What happened was I took a screenshot of the details and used the copy text feature from the photo and it used a 0 instead of O. Thanks again

You picture hasn't been moderated yet, but you do realise you will lose the telephone service if you use your own router?
