Ping/Latency way higher Gigafast 900

I used to get 5ms ping to London (from Coventry), now I am being auto connected to Edinburugh and I get 15 ping to there, when I try to speedtest to London or even right next to me in Leicester I am getting pings above 22...I called in and they just said "they added new servers and there's nothing much we can do"...

any help?

I do hope you end up on the correct BNG but I have a bad feeling that the wrong BNG is keeping your seat warm 😞

Haha probably, I'm keeping an eye on updates here https://support.cityfibre.com/networks I didn't even know CF had this

Thanks for that, useful to know!

Wish Vodafone had something similar.

Sorry to hear things haven't changed for you. I did have the bad feeling the BNG would be back with a vengeance.

Things aren't any better here, though there were no disconnections last night.

Interesting thread here, especially the comms from Zen regarding the latency issues and being assigned the wrong BNG for the location - https://forums.thinkbroadband.com/zen/f/4715185-latency-seems-to-have-increased-packet-loss-and-spik...

I think I will try the trick of powering down the router for 15 minutes at some point to see if it helps to be assigned to the nearest BNG. It seemed to work for someone there.

Well, I powered it down for about 25 minutes for good measure. After powering it back up, it returned to the wrong BNG in Manchester again! Oh well, it was worth a try. Mind you, I should have powered the ONT off as well.

I don't think it'll make any difference. Had my router off for 50 minutes along with the ONT. The network still has me in bonny Scotland.

Seems the momentum this topic had is slowly dying off...?

Well it’s because momentum is not going to do anything, they’ve seen the thread, we’ve all called in including myself at least 6-7 times, same answers. It’s one of those issues like I said where it will eventually get solved but we’ll be so bored of it by then we won’t realise immediately. I do still check my ip location everyday though.
