I used to get 5ms ping to London (from Coventry), now I am being auto connected to Edinburugh and I get 15 ping to there, when I try to speedtest to London or even right next to me in Leicester I am getting pings above 22...I called in and they just said "they added new servers and there's nothing much we can do"...
any help?

Yeah, I think that issue might be unrelated regarding the local IP address changes
However, I would want to know from the community managers here about how many examples would need to be provided to the social media teams before any action is taken. Seems like we're just in limbo. It would be nice to know how many examples have been received and if possible receive some sort of comment from the social media team so we know how they're dealing with the issue.
@Beth @Gemma apologies for the ping but it would be nice to know what's going on. I know it isn't all on the community management team here but I was hoping you'd be able to help us get some sort of clarification, thanks!

With the 95% promise and 8million+ clients, 400,000 clients would need to be reporting issues before vf are obliged to do anything.

The problem is that for most people the problem has been resolved, so any records they were collating will now be out of date. Most people now seem to be getting a gateway address/POP which is local to them (I certainly am).
I think possibly a new thread and start again with just the people still suffering would be a good idea.

The poll I posted in Facebook, suggests that folk run a test before voting. Hopefully, the results will reflect reality. So far the results are:
1. Satisfied with speed 10 individuals
2. Dissatisfied with speed. 8.
3. Satisfied with ping. 4.
Dissatisfied with ping. 6.
This is early days, but I assume that to be dissatisfied with ping those folk have run a test and that ltency is still an issue for about 20% of folk.

@Jayach I'm not fully convinced the problems are sorted though. I think perhaps many people have coincidentally been assigned to a local gateway but I wouldn't say it's fixed unless it has proven to be consistent over time.
It would be interested to know if anyone has been assigned a new IP since their issues were fixed to see if it's repeatable, though I guess there's less reason to message on the forums when your service has been good consistently,
Maybe it's worth knowing the general locations where the people that service has / hasn't been fixed are. E.g. I'm in the South of England and haven't had a fix. I've refreshed the internet connection several times and I always get either an Edinburgh or Birmingham gateway, with 25+ms ping.
The issue is either they've ran out of IPs (which I guess not because they can still route "logically" rather than physically), or their servers in certain areas are congested / lacking because they're selling an oversubscribed service that they don't have the infrastructure to fully support. Luckily for them/the industry, they don't have any guarantees on latency and most of their customers probably don't care. Still, in comparison to many other FTTP providers, Vodafone remains 5x+ slower in terms of ping but hey ho

I agree that the latency problems may not be fixed for everyone. However, following the comments on this thread, it seemed to be that the consensus was the latency problems were caused by people being on the wrong gateway/POP.
When I checked it also applied to me (I'm in Southeast Essex, but was on a Leeds/Manchester gateway), not that I cared as ping times are not important to me.
I had a 3-hour downtime one night, and since them I am consistently on a London Gateway, with much lower pings.
At the same time many others were reporting their gateway was also where they expected.
That is why I think a problem has been resolved, for the others, perhaps their latency problems have a different cause
I just think that as this thread has got so long, and maybe not everyone had the same problem (even if the effect is the same) maybe starting again is a good idea.

Reassuringly this does seem to be getting proactively fixed, although it's taking time.
It appears i was moved last night at 2am from the Edinburgh gateway to gateway 90.247.64.1 (i've not yet pinned down where this is), this has dropped my ping down to 12ms which is an improvement.

Something is happening with mine today. I had the static IP removed from yesterday morning. I noticed this morning that the gateway had changed.
The system seems to be chasing my geolocation around the country. Started in London, then Manchester and I am now routed through Leeds. My geolocation has gone from London to Liverpool and now, oddly, Cleckheaton, West Yorkshire. I say oddly as I grew up in Cleckheaton but moved to Worcester over 20 years ago.
Fingers crossed it gets it right eventually.

Mine changed at 2am to 90.243.39.X (not sure which gateway) which gave me 8ms ping which I was happy with but it changed again at around 10am and it's back to 27ms pings 😕
