I used to get 5ms ping to London (from Coventry), now I am being auto connected to Edinburugh and I get 15 ping to there, when I try to speedtest to London or even right next to me in Leicester I am getting pings above 22...I called in and they just said "they added new servers and there's nothing much we can do"...
any help?

This is all so far above customer support even they can't help other than to collate evidence. We can't blame CS, they're doing all they can with the info they can get.
The wifi experts team are a waste of time, going on about my speed meeting the minimum guarantee which I never had reason to complain about, and apparently 18-20ms is acceptable! Oh and the speeds are fine on your nearest BNG - whaaaaat?!?!?!
Maybe CityFibre need to update their marketing and say that you'll get faster speeds but don't expect latency to be any better than Virgin Media's!
I am surprised gamers haven't noticed these issues.
So here's how it looked on my previous VM connection:
And how it looks now:
How it was before someone body messed it all up in VF. This is how I'd like it to be again when things were working fine:
So there's no advantage with using fibre with Vodafone compared to 'old hat' DOCSIS technology delivered through a coaxial cable with Virgin Media! Looks like someone in the marketing department at CityFibre need to have a rethink, it's no different to FTTC, DOCSIS etc. Nice one folks, give yourselves a round of applause.
The experience I just had with wifi experts team has made me livid, poor attitude and quite frankly unempathetic and seemed to have no idea about how networks are supposed to operate. Also refused to allow me a line of communication with whichever team is responsible for this configuration mess.
It really isn't hard. Configure IP addresses best suited to the geographic location of the subscriber and make sure they use the correct BNG. You do not give people in the South or North an IP address and BNG allocated for the other half of the country. Why is it so difficult to sort out? Where are the communications?
For now.
We know there's upgrade work happening around the Manchester BNG. We know that clients have had to be offloaded to other BNGs to allow this work to happen. But we were told the work would be finished Monday -clearly this hasn't happened.
As much as we'd want the care team here to give us all the info, clearly they only have access to a limited amount of info. I bet they're just as frustrated about all this as we are - probably moreso as they have to endure the frustration we throw at them and they can only accept it.
What would really be nice was if one of the team involved with the actual operation of the network could pop their head up and explain to us exactly what is happening - and keep us updated. To be left hanging like this is just frustrating.
I'm trying to chillax now, I can't afford the stress. It will be fixed.

It doesn't make sense, because I'd normally be on the London BNG, so why shift me to Manchester if that's in the midst of upgrade works?
Anyway, as you say, let's wait for further updates.

You're right, that doesn't make sense. I wonder if a database has messed up somewhere(?).

That's my theory from what I've seen so far. People up north are assigned London BNGs whilst folks like me in the South are assigned Manchester instead of London.
Someone in VF has messed it all up, that's how it looks to me. No one should be connecting via Manchester if it's supposed to be down for upgrades.
Whoever it is had best be working their socks off to undo whatever damage they caused. No wonder they are hiding and trying to blame CityFibre instead to protect their jobs.

To add a little more silliness, prior to this I was thinking Manchester was my closest BNG but by investigating someone else's tracert there's a BNG in Leeds. Why have I never connected to that gateway? I'm only 10 miles from Leeds. .

Talking to CityFibre on DMs now, at first they said not their problem but I re-iterated that VF is saying it is and they've asked for my info...let's see if they say anything

I noticed earlier that this was posted about on the ISPreview site. Now it's active on thinkbroadband. I dropped a link in the convo.

I must be one of the lucky one that isn't affected by this right now, I'm on CityFibre.
