Regular evening blip.

Has anyone else noticed this odd blip in their TBB quality monitor?  It occurs around 8.pm daily, but with no obvious effect on speed or latency, given that this is a peak time?  I would note that during the test the speed is more erratic than usual, fluctuating wildly up and down, but settling at just over 900Mb by the end of the test. The first occurrence was 14th March. Here's this evenings snapshot also showing the blip of the previous day.

The continuous packet loss at the top of the graph started yesterday at 1.00 am. A ping to BBC.co.uk shows no packet loss.

Here's my ping and tracert to the BBC.

@Jayach "I hadn't realised that the BQM I posted earlier is actually "live" (didn't know you could do that) but it shows it is just starting for me."

Yes. When you click on share snapshot graph, it isn't actually a snapshot. It is live!  To avoid that I click on the graph to get full size and then snip the image for posting.

Yesterday's blip  was the worst so far. Game play impossible.    EDIT. Called VF this morning, reporting the continued and worsened service issue.  They are waiting for CF to sign off yesterday's action. Once that is done,  the issue will be raised to the next level. Even though I explained why this is certainly a national issue on the VF network, they have to keep to their script. They suggested that I call again tomorrow morning.

Just a jump in got bqms showing the same thing daily definitely not cityfibre I have neighbours either side on cityfibre but different providers and guess what? Not a single problem their graphs are like a constant line of latency.

Thats what I have been getting most evenings

City Fibre checked my line and found everything was fine. Had a guy call me from Vodafone who had me connect the VF router up and he reset everything and they will monitor it. They were supposed to be doing that from yesterday.

The good thing from my point of view is that I gave a live streamed training session during tonight's blip and it seemed to be unaffected. Latency rose to 30 but upload speed was fine.

A 30 Ms latency wouldn't affect live streaming.  (it's 0.03 seconds, which is one 30th of a second)

I know gamers believe that is excessive, but in the real world, it is nothing.

I am giving a live stream training session. Its the upload speed that affects that but as I was still getting around 900 upload speed the latency wasn't an issue

If that is 900Mbs, that is the upload speed.. (you are obviously on CityFibre)

Assuming a 4K video stream requires approx. 25Mbs (possibly up to 50Mbs) there is no problem. That is not the same as latency.

Maybe I'm missing something. When did I say latency and upload were the same thing?

Other people (subscribers) are watching MY live streams. So the most important part of my connection is the upload speed. Which is why I said "latency wasn't an issue".

@Jayach

I think what is affecting gaming here is that the high latency of up to 40ms is accompanied by jitter of >7ms.

@prs1000

Sorry, I obviously misunderstood the meaning of your post.
