Hello. My router was made by Vodafone. It doesn't show up in my android phone's list of wi fi networks. Step by step I: opened settings, clicked 'wi fi', pressed the three dots in the corner, pressed 'add wi fi', I turned the router upside down, I typed the SSID in the first box exactly as it's printed on the sticker on the router, I selected WPA/WPA2PSK from the security drop down menu, I typed the password in the password box exactly as it's printed, and I clicked 'connect'. Nothing's happened except my router now shows up in the list of saved networks and my phone thinks it's out of range. What have I done wrong? How do I connect? (I'm at another address to ask this)

Ripshod 8:41pm- it's made by LG and it runs Android 6.0

With your phone running marshmallow it's possible your phone was born before the mainstream adoption of 802.11ac (wifi5). If that's the case it may not see your router even if it wasn't hidden, though 802.11n should still connect.

And I'd do that in the router's settings wouldn't I? OK I'll try resetting to out of the factory then when that fails to help I'll see about borrowing someone's computer to mess with the router settings. Hopefully you've got that right. It sounds like you probably have

OK there's no option to change ac to n or anything else. On a guide for using the router's settings page it shows a drop down menu at the top with an option for 'expert mode' or something like that but there's no drop down menu when I look at the page. What other solutions might there be besides buying a new device?

Are you kidding? It's literally at the top of every page. Are you sure it's a Vodafone router?
If it is not your router, you shouldn't be attempting to change anything, you may break it for everyone else.
I think getting an up to date phone will be the only thing we can suggest.

No it's not there. I'm sure it should be, it's there in other people's screen shots, but not when I went to look for it. I assume someone's disabled it somehow. The router has a big Vodafone logo on the front. It's a model THG3000

I have the same router, and I don't think it is possible to disable what is seen in the GUI.

The GUI may rely on software (Javascript etc.) newer than that which is bundled with Android 6.

The GUI software runs in the router, not in the device viewing it.

@Jayach All of it? 😀
So many web interfaces offload JS to the client or we wouldn't have Ad Block offering to block scripts. Anyway, as I don't use the THG3000 I'm not in a position to inspect the page source.
