Solution

Trying to use my existing ASUS DSL-AX82U Router (MOD EDIT as requested by user)

Hi All,

Hoping someone can help me.

I recently got the Vodafone Full Fibre 910 FTTP connection installed by Open Reach. I would like to use my own Asus router instead of the Powerhub dsl that Vodafone provided.

I've looked on the forum for pointers but am struggling to get my specific router to work. I've attached some screen shots of my settings but couple of things I'd like to check.

Is it DSL -ADSL WAN type I should be using, as this is the only one from the drop down list that allows me to add my VF broadband username and Broadband?

I have tried the following VLAN ID's (none i.e. 0, 901 and 101) but still not working. I did check with VF supports and they sent a standard text with my details and it said VLAN is not always needed. It says 901 at the end of that message but is that for City Fibre?

Also checked twice with VF support that I have the correct Username and Password. The Password is only 8 characters. I know in other posts that it's mentioned that it should be 9 characters?

Hoping I don't get stuck using the Powerhub, as the Wi-Fi signal is rubbish!

Thanks in advance for any help in resolving this.

If you don't have the full manual download it from here

https://dlcdnets.asus.com/pub/ASUS/wireless/DSL-AX82U/E23438_DSL_AX82U_UM_V3_WEB.pdf?model=DSL-AX82U

(Admin/mods that's the legit link)

@groove_timer read from page 76

Thanks Ripshod. Will look at it tomorrow, as lost the will today🤣

Appreciate you looking

The first box under WAN Type says "DSL". Can that not be changed to "WAN"? According to the manual it should.

Hi Ripshod,

I'll double check this when I get home. I think it can be changed but then I lose the Account settings section, so can't add in my Username and Password details.

Just adding all the screen shots again as some were missing. Not sure if Admin is removing them but they don't have PII in them

When you change it to WAN does a new WAN menu appear in the left bar? Or, change it to WAN then run the Quick Internet Setup.

Hi everyone, @groove_timer - thanks for flagging this. I've approved all of your images. I'm not sure what's happened to your previous ones, although I've raised this internally to be looked into as they did show as approved.

Just editing my post as the ones from earlier are now showing @groove_timer - It looks like there was a delay. Thanks for uploading them again.

No worries,

Thanks for letting me know :Smiling:

Here's some more screen shots @Ripshod
So there is an option to change it to WAN

It then creates a new WAN connection

Editing this shows no where to put my account details in

And running the Quick Internet Setup only allows you to create a new network and Wi-Fi. I know I've used this in the past and it would allow you to choose from a list of ISP providers. Maybe because there's no dsl connection anymore it doesn't show these options. Tbh I'm about to just chuck it in the bin!
