Ultra Hub Issues & Full Fibre Delays – Need Help with Settings

Hey everyone,

I've had a Vodafone Ultra Hub for a long time now, but Vodafone refuses to replace it with either the new model or another Ultra Hub. The connection drops at random times—often around midnight—then the hub starts flashing, either endlessly trying to reset or finally reconnecting after about 20 minutes. It’s becoming really frustrating.

Vodafone just gives me the usual scripted responses, but as a tech guy, I know my way around routers—this one is just terrible. I’ve been waiting for full fibre, which Vodafone advertises, but when I ordered it back in August last year, they never provided a go-live date. A Vodafone rep accidentally mentioned December, so now, each time the go-live date is missed, I get a small refund due to Ofcom rules.

It’s not just Vodafone—it’s Openreach too. They came out right after my order, sprayed my pathway in yellow, and then disappeared. Vodafone called me regularly for about two weeks, but now they don’t bother. I know they have a system to contact Openreach, but despite being promised multiple times that it will be done, the dates keep getting pushed back. I’ve even signed the paperwork to approve digging up the path, but still, no Openreach van in sight.

I don’t understand how Vodafone can advertise full fibre when the infrastructure isn’t even in place.

Back to the hub—it's honestly the worst I’ve ever had. I’m sitting right next to it, and my phone’s WiFi signal is weak (only half full, not a solid icon), even though I’m just a meter away. I haven’t received a firmware update since I got it.

I have two boosters for CCTV, but they’re basically useless. My CCTV is about four meters away, connected via a booster just half a meter away, and it still doesn’t connect. Given that I’ve been burgled three times in the past, having working CCTV is critical for me.

So, does anyone know if there have been any firmware updates for the Ultra Hub? Also, are there any advanced settings tweaks that might improve stability?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

There isn't a newer model, the Ultra Hub is the latest for the Pro plans, The other model, the Power Hub, is for non-Pro plans.

Vodafone never seem to release details of the firmware levels, but I wonder if the rebooting around Midnight is it trying (but failing) to get an update. Have you tried factory resetting the router?
