Using own router - how soon after broadband activation ?

Hello,

My Vodafone broadband was successfully activated today 27 th April. The modem/router supplied by Vodafone is currently in situ handling the broadband connection

I see that I am advised at -https://www.vodafone.co.uk/help-and-information/broadband-support/set-up-router-vox3

if you're a new Vodafone Broadband customer, you may experience slightly unstable speeds during your first 10 days - this is common while your new line adjusts to delivering the fastest possible speeds to your router. Your speeds should be stable after these 10 days.

I have my own modem/router by TPLINK model TD-W9970 which I would like to use in place of the Vodafone supplied modem/router.

In light of the 'settling down' period quoted above, how long should I keep the Vodafone modem/router in place prior to using my own modem/router ?

Presumably I would also need to insert my Vodafone Broadband username and password into my TPLINK modem/router when I wish to make my change of modem/ router ?

Thanks for your help.

I'd probably wait until that settling down period is over, unless you have some urgent need to use your own modem/router.  That said. while the range on the TD-W9970 is probably better than the standard VF modem/router, in many other ways it's going to be a downgrade, especially the lack of the 5GHz WiFi!

thanks, i will see how it goes.
