I am still in contract with Virgin Media but want to be in a position to consider switching to CityFibre in the near future.
I am about to dig a trench to bury the Virgin cable going to the house, before the front garden is landscaped. It would therefore make sense to lay an equivalent CityFibre cable at the same time.
Is it possible to obtain or buy a suitable length of cable in preparation?

I got Vodafone FTTP from Cityfibre installed just before Xmas. The connection between the house and street is just ducting, when the service is installed they blow fibre from the house down the ducting to street and to the cabinet, rather than splicing anywhere

That's really interesting - thanks for the reply. So in theory all I need to do is lay some ducting that a cable can be run through

.@ChannelZ Do ask them what type of ducting because I'd really not want them to shake their heads and say, "oph no, we can't use that duct because it has to be xyz-type".
