I have had my IP address changed at least twice in the last 5 days. It is a pain as i use an online report writer and they require my current IP address for security purposes and every time my IP address changes, i have to contact support to get it updated on their system.
I have had broadband connections in the past where DHCP is used and the IP address only changed if the router was rebooted. Why do voadfone not do this?
My router has not been rebooted for 71+ days!

It would seem that you have two possible ways to mitigate the problem.
You can request a static IP, it's in your contract, and I think most of the tech support reps now know this.
The other way to try and sort this out is to use the DDNS (Dynamic Domain Name System) support on the router, so you'd give this to the people running the online report writer, and it should cure the problem.
Oddly one of the reasons for reallocating IPs is security. If you are on a fixed IP address you are more likely to be subjected to brute force attacks that try to access your network. *It's not uncommon for users here to spot the refused connections from third parties trying to access their network and think it's a router fault!

Thanks KeithAlger,
however when you mention ask for a static IP address, and that it is in the contract, is this something they do for free?

well that flies against the wind as they did offer me a ststic IP address yesterday, via webchat, at a cost of €6/month, which I thought was unreasonable cost. I might have accepted a one off admin charge for setting it up, but why a continuous cost every month.
hmmm now where to go! could it be that the terms are different in Ireland?

The pricing plan in the UK may vary depending on when you joined but according to the latest price plan dated 12 June 2020 a static IP can be provided free of charge!
If you are in the ROI then terms conditions and pricing are different!
