I joke you not its like a kick in the teeth from VF or celebrating exactly a year of perfect 940/940 internet entire year and now, its back this time, Im getting 840/940 when testing to VF London but glasgow or edinburgh is down under 10mbps, so without further a do, in this order from bottom to top, Bracknell or southern england, over 350 miles away has best speed middle one is glasgow and top one is vodafone edinburgh, closest server to me.

Thanks for keeping me updated on your side. Keep pestering them on the phone... if someone on their side figures out the issue, it'll likely fix it for us all.

I'm on my 7th day in a row of non stop phone calls. They are utterly obsessed with finding a fault inside my house. They've twice seen on a video call the issue only happening in the evening, but they're convinced it's my Ethernet cable, the wiring in my house, etc, and they are trying to get an engineer to me.

One advisor was pushing hard for to me to accept a "WiFi booster" device, as she was convinced this would resolve the issue (after we just sat on the video call and established it's happening over Ethernet). I couldn't make this up.

I'm going to keep trying, but please everyone else do so too!

My house is hardwired with Cat 6 cable to a patch panel with a managed switch connected to their VF router. There's been no changes to my network infrastructure for a few years so can't be anything to do with internal ethernet cabling. If it was, then I would be experiencing this issue throughout the day which I’m definitely not as I have a server running 24/7. This issue only started to become a persistent problem over the past week (bar one day in March where the exact same thing happened but seemed to be a one off) and usually within a set timeframe of 6-7pm onwards to midnight.

It’s got to be down to something changing on their side (traffic management rules, QoS, etc ??) which is why their tech support teams are clutching at straws to come up with a solution as I’m uncertain that they have much control over that side of things. No harm getting one of their engineers to come out and check the line and green cabinet connection out in the street. One more thing to check off the list to get this resolved. If the issue is identified and a fix deployed then I’m sure this will sort out the problem for all the users posting on this forum.

PS. It can't be a fault in the line as I has perfect fibre service for the first few months when I moved over to VF.

On the 500mb fibre plan. 3rd night in a row where download speeds are about 2-10mb, upload speeds seem to be above 200mbs. I can obtain full speeds during the working day but from 6pm onwards to about midnight, download speeds drops to dial up modem speeds from 20 years ago. Can’t decide if they’re throttling the service or the network is over saturated with new subscribers and they don't have the capacity to deliver standard level of service. A guy from VF tech support rings from a call centre from abroad during the day to say everything is fine but keep having to re-open the logged call with updates on the poor broadband DL speeds. Only 6 months into the 24 month contract and starting to get worried this is a sign of things to come.

I've had 900/900 for many years with Vodafone, so it's definitely possible to get good service. This only started happening on Friday last week for me.

I personally don't think it's congestion as connecting to a VPN instantly resolves the issue.

You have the right to cancel your contract with no termination fee if you are getting below the guaranteed speed stated on your contract.

I'd recommend going the "raise a complaint" route regardless as it starts the 8 week timer for you to be able to escalate to CISAS.

I'm seeing very similar to yourself.

Just had a text saying they've fixed the problem on my line (....)

Not holding my breath, leaving server running a speed test every 10 mins and ping monitoring.

"speedtest tracker" and "Smokeping", both in docker containers on an unraid machine, if you want to do the same.

How is it tonight for you guys? I'm now connected to a different gateway, nearer to Manchester instead of Edinburgh. This one doesn't seem to get the issue, same as my Dad round the corner. I think it only happens during weekdays anyway right?

No issues with DL speeds so far tonight. Not sure if what they did last night with the router has fixed the problem. I'll keep an eye on it over the next few days and see how it goes. Fingers crossed.

Is your gateway currently 84.65.192.1 by any chance? I'm thinking the issue only happens on gateway 90.247.128.1. At least from my observation so far.
