Aberdeen speed issue on fibre

The previous thread about the speed issues in Aberdeen seems to have disappeared.

For those of you that were suffering it, how are things now?

Since I've been moved off the Edinburgh gateway, things are fine for me now. I'm nervous to call it resolved though - I could be moved back to the Edinburgh one any day.

The only speed test VF officially recognises is https://www.vodafone.co.uk/broadband/speed-test

Two separate techs from their technical department last week had me on video calls and asked me to go to Ookla.

@RebelRose I'm not surprised at that. If you look in the forum there are reports of customers being told that they have to use the VF branded test. Doesn't actually mean that should you find someone with a clue they will stick to the party line 😁

Reaching the clued-up person is the big success.

Indeed, I'm glad I'm in touch with a couple of really competent people now, although I haven't heard from them in a while.

They seemed to listen to technical reasoning and not be obsessed with blaming my Ethernet cable collection. First thing they said was "Yeah that can't be anything inside your house then...".

So, if you're struggling on the phone with support, hang in there, be persistent, and you might get forwarded to one of these guys! Another trick is to go via the "cancellations" department, they put me in touch with the tech guys pronto.

BTW, I get 15Mbps on the official Vodafone test.

btw, you guys keep attaching images, but they don't seem to get moderated for days, so I never actually see them. Best to stick to text I reckon.

I stay near Pittodrie. A few weeks ago had someone come to the door asking about wifi saying there had been some complaints due to recent work in the area. Asked about both speed and provider. After assuring him our wifi was fine he left saying he wasn’t going to take up more of my time. I assumed he was a door to door salesman. Perhaps yours was just being more pushy with trying to make you show the speed and trying to be more friendly?
