Connect phone to VOIP line

How do I connect my phone to a Vodafone router.  Vodafone told me to get an RJ11 adapter and use this to connect the phone to the phone port in the router.  I've tried this with two different phones and neither worked.

Presumably you are on FTTP?

You should be able to use the RJ 45 "internet cable" if you remove the current BT type cable from the phone.

However if the adapters are not working then neither would the RJ45 cable, From another thread on here it seems the phone LED on the router need to be lit for the telephone to work. If yours if off then the router has not been correctly provisioned. Try disconnecting the router, doing a factory reset and then reconnect it.
