It seems that in the last week my landline, which I rarely use has developed a loud hum in the background. It sounds like its 50Hz mains so I tried another 12V mains adapter for the router but it makes no difference. It seems like some sort of cable pick up as moving the cables around seems to alter it, but its always there.
I dont know if its related but even though I have high speed the smart TV is always buffering. I tried used the Vodafone line checker but it its refusing to work.
Any help appreciated.

Hey @FibreFibre I hope you're well! We will need to run through some checks and test your lines in order to find out what is causing the noise you are hearing. As we have no account access on the Community, please pop the Social Media team a message here so they can help. Alternatively, please give the Broadband team a call on 191 free from a Vodafone Pay monthly mobile, or 03333 040 191 from any other UK phone (standard charges apply).

Just when we're bemoaning old-fashioned phones, this is an instance where having one could help! In this case, if you had an old-fashioned phone socket-powered phone, you'd be able to turn off the breaker for the whole house and then check to see if the noise/hum is still present. If it's gone then the issue is internal, if it's not gone then it's between the phone and the cabinet!
*So says the person who was about to chuck a Google Home Mini that appeared to be failing, only at the last minute to test and find that it's the USB power supply that's on its last legs!

Thanks. Even just a change of landline phone might be a test, but I doubt that is the problem. I have the feeling the router is kaput.
