Landline phone with own router on FTTP

Just got FTTP and everything is working fine off the VF router. Phone lines are plugged into the VF router, VF router's WiFi is switched off. 3rd party Mesh has been switched to Bridge mode and plugged into the VF's ethernet port.

However I am shocked at how feature poor the VF router is. e.g. There are no Parental controls at all. I know I can get rid of the VF router and plug my own Mesh router into the Openreach ONT, but what about the Landline.

Are there any 3rd party routers in the market that have a telephone socket at the back to allow the home phone to be plugged in?

Could you upload a screenshot of where you’ve defined the static ip address on the HT801 please (and other relevant settings)?
I think I’ve found it, but am not 100% of what needs to be changed in addition to setting the IP.

For the dns settings on the ata:

Where I put 10.0.0.14 you need to put your own lan address.

When you order a static ip from vodafone they will set it for you - there's nothing to change there.

Thanks for posting this.

If the image ever gets moderated, I’ll add my static IP address.
😁

I have been trying to connect to my Voda FTTP using a grandstream HT801, but so far no luck. Do you know anyone been able to connect please? Any advice, tips most welcome. I do have a static IP I managed to get Vodafone to give me as well as...  SIP_LINE1_PASSWORD : SIP_LINE1_URI : SIP_LINE1_USERNAME: SIP_OUTBOUND_PROXY:SIP_REGISTRAR_SERVER :

@Xjackocan you share your config somehow, omitting sensitive info? The options are covered in the asterisk config.

Some options:

"Primary SIP Server" - resvoip.vodafone.co.uk

"Outbound Proxy" - xxx.xx.bbvoice.vodafone.co.uk

"Use NAT IP" - your static IP

"Local SIP Port" - 5065

"Local RTP Port" - 10000

"Remove OBP from Route Header" - yes

I believe the default QoS settings are correct on the HT801

"Prefer Primary Outbound Proxy" - maybe set to yes

"SIP User ID"/"Authenticate ID" - not 100% sure, maybe set both to the voiXXX username

"Authenticate Password" - provided password

If you haven't set up a firewall rule to allow inbound packets from VF, you may need to play with Register Expiration settings. If you don't do this you won't receive calls from about 2 minutes after registering as the NAT will timeout the connection. To get around this try something like:

"Register Expiration" - 2 minutes

"Reregister Before Expiration" - 15 seconds

Alternatively you can create a DNAT rule from source 195.89.27.0/24 to the HT801's local IP.

I am willing, obviously it is a non working one, I am attempting shortly

OK .@cf996 Please let me know if you are able to view the following link and that it has all the information you are looking for. If you can see OK, please would you advise on any amendments necessary...  https://drive.google.com/file/d/1kFkM2ZSfyIbHhCDRn6kwTxSDcrXGmzj_/view?usp=sharing

From first glance I see two issues:

"Use Random SIP Port" should be "no"

"Use NAT IP" should be your Vodafone static IP

I'll update this post if I see anything else.

Edit:

"Add Auth Header on Initial REGISTER" should be "yes"

"Enable 100rel" maybe set to yes, not 100% on this one

Thanks for that .@cf996, I will implement your suggestions. I did read on another post something about the a requirement that the DNS headers incorporate the Vodafone ( THH3000g) router's serial number. I am not sure if that is correct or how it would be imputed if that were the case?  Also I did make some changes to the basic settings tab that I am not sure I should have done so I will post a link to that as well as an update the the FXS port tab after I have followed what you mentioned. Can I please ask have you managed to get your set up to connect or is this still a work in progress?  Many thanks for your help so far.

Hello again .@cf996, after i followed your latest set of guidelines, including Enable 100rel: set to YES It all now seems to be working fine. I have test called both ways and voice is good. So I have to say a big thanks to you .@cf996, for your wisdom and help in this one.  Hopefully others will benefit too. Thanks again.
