Just got FTTP and everything is working fine off the VF router. Phone lines are plugged into the VF router, VF router's WiFi is switched off. 3rd party Mesh has been switched to Bridge mode and plugged into the VF's ethernet port.
However I am shocked at how feature poor the VF router is. e.g. There are no Parental controls at all. I know I can get rid of the VF router and plug my own Mesh router into the Openreach ONT, but what about the Landline.
Are there any 3rd party routers in the market that have a telephone socket at the back to allow the home phone to be plugged in?

I have a feeling this is similar to the problem I am experiencing from what I can tell.
I have a feeling it is something to do with DNS resolution of both the proxy and main server address.
if I run NSlookup from the terminal of FreePBX I get the following:
[root@freepbx ~]# nslookup vodafone.co.uk Server: 90.255.255.255 Address: 90.255.255.255#53 Non-authoritative answer: Name: vodafone.co.uk Address: 52.31.165.23 Name: vodafone.co.uk Address: 54.76.134.85 Name: vodafone.co.uk Address: 52.50.67.91 [root@freepbx ~]# nslookup xbn.Z3.bbvoice.vodafone.co.uk Server: 90.255.255.255 Address: 90.255.255.255#53 Non-authoritative answer: *** Can't find xbn.Z3.bbvoice.vodafone.co.uk: No answer [root@freepbx ~]# nslookup xbn.Z4.bbvoice.vodafone.co.uk Server: 90.255.255.255 Address: 90.255.255.255#53 Non-authoritative answer: *** Can't find xbn.Z4.bbvoice.vodafone.co.uk: No answer
[root@freepbx ~]# nslookup resvoip.vodafone.co.uk Server: 90.255.255.255 Address: 90.255.255.255#53 ** server can't find resvoip.vodafone.co.uk: NXDOMAIN
I can see why there is no answer from any of the proxy addresses as from what I understand it needs specific TLS values. resvoip.vodafone.co.uk may only resolve when being sent through the proxy address hence NXDOMAIN.
This is all speculation on my part, could anybody who has gotten this working confirm what domains should be resolvable?
I have checked with Wireshark that all outgoing register requests have the correct DSCP values of AF31 and I'm still not getting a response (didn't help Vodafone gave me the wrong password [Would definitely recommend you get it through chat, not phone], but still no dice).

Check that you can ping the dns servers 90.255.255.90 and 90.255.255.255. I see the second in your log excerpt but no mention of the first which I favoured.

i can ping both, freePBX was set to prefer 90.255.255.255. changing it to prefer the other made no difference
There are a lot of errors in the log files aside from what is shown here but I don't think any are relevant (mid-boot errors):
15162 [2023-08-06 20:26:39] VERBOSE[2269] asterisk.c: Asterisk Ready. 15163 [2023-08-06 20:27:41] WARNING[2469] res_pjsip_outbound_registration.c: No response received from 'sip:resvoip.vodafone.co.uk' on registration attempt to 'sip:voi00xxxxxx@resvoip.vodafone.co.uk', retrying in '60' 15164 [2023-08-06 20:29:45] WARNING[2469] res_pjsip_outbound_registration.c: No response received from 'sip:resvoip.vodafone.co.uk' on registration attempt to 'sip:voi00xxxxxxx@resvoip.vodafone.co.uk', retrying in '60' 15165 [2023-08-06 20:31:49] WARNING[5226] res_pjsip_outbound_registration.c: No response received from 'sip:resvoip.vodafone.co.uk' on registration attempt to 'sip:voi00xxxxx@resvoip.vodafone.co.uk', retrying in '60'

Looks like an error in the info you've been given, specifically the proxy server. I don't think I can really be any further help as I no longer have access to the landline any more (by choice).

do you think I should trial and error all the known proxies?
I have had 2 different vodaphone representatives give me the same address so far.

just noticed in the past capture on the wam interface for the registration packets, the source port is marked as 41647 and the destination port as 5060.
however as per the GitHub readme.md:
"If behind NAT, please ensure that the router is not modifying the source port of outbound packets, as only ports 5065 and 10000-10010 are accepted for signaling and RTP respectively."
Could this be the issue and would it have to be fixed with an outbound nat rule?

Yes this is very likely the issue. You need a of SNAT rule to modify the source port to 5065 and another for RTP packets.

Hi. Could you please clarify for me where exactly you enter the details for the Vodafone DNS servers on the HT801? The main configuration page (and all the screenshots I have looked at) do not show these IP addresses - so I am guessing they are located elsewhere - and are therefore probably the reason why I can still not get the HT801 working despite haveing copied several of the screenshots. Incidentally my phone IS now registering - just not working.

At the top the settings pages are tabbed. You want either "Basic Settings" or "Advanced Settings" - not sure which.

Try an SRV query instead of type A. If doing a manual lookup, you need to prepend the service and protocol, eg:
nslookup -type=SRV _sip._udp.09a.Z2.bbvoice.vodafone.co.uk
There should be a DNS mode on Grandstream devices which should be set to SRV. You don't need to add "_sip._udp" on the WP822.
