Landline phone with own router on FTTP

Just got FTTP and everything is working fine off the VF router. Phone lines are plugged into the VF router, VF router's WiFi is switched off. 3rd party Mesh has been switched to Bridge mode and plugged into the VF's ethernet port.

However I am shocked at how feature poor the VF router is. e.g. There are no Parental controls at all. I know I can get rid of the VF router and plug my own Mesh router into the Openreach ONT, but what about the Landline.

Are there any 3rd party routers in the market that have a telephone socket at the back to allow the home phone to be plugged in?

This thread is fantastic, and a great effort from many members helping each other out. But coming at it from a newbies perspective is hard now, a lot of posts to navigate.

So I got a HT812 today and I’ve put in the details given to me by Vidofone. I’m not really getting anywhere, as a lot I don’t fully understand.
Could someone with a currently working HT812 kindly post all their settings as a screenshot?

Plus any settings they have had to change on their router if they have.

Is a static public IP strictly necessary?

Hi there, i've just joined and recently activated on full fibre and the ultrahub, and my router is simpily awful, i want to do what many others have done but my voda technician refused to give me the details. were you successful in getting the info, asking as your post is recent. looking to do the same with the grandstream HT812

Yes, on chat I was able to obtain them - but I have to be quite 'politely demanding'. However I have still not got it quite working fully...

I think a static IP helps. but you can use STUN.

I think the settings are very similar across the range, so previous posts will help.  I have a 802 but I just followed previous posts.

There is one setting on the router to change.

Select ISP Profile Internet - VID 911.  On my Asus it's under IPTV

So having followed the recommended settings on this forum (thanks all), I have got to the point where incoming calls work.

However I can not make outbound calls. After dialing a number, either the line is silent, or sometimes a beeping. Any ideas? Has anyone else had this issue, and are there any things I can try?

Thanks again.

I've been trying to solve this for a while, and I haven't been successful. Vodafone changed something recently that makes outbound calls incredibly inconsistent.

If you keep trying you do eventually get some calls to go through, but I've got no idea how to make it consistent.

Thanks. I’ve bring trying to call my mobile for a while now. At first it was silent, then beeping. But now I constantly get the engaged tone. Odd.

Many other people having the same issues?

Oh that's interesting, I always get a dial tone but it just sometimes doesn't connect. Check back a couple of pages to some of my other posts, I think I might have had that issue? I can't remember how I fixed it but it should be in there.

I get a dial tone. I’m referring to the sound after dialling. It’s odd.

The problem is, and I guess for most people, is we don’t really understand what these settings do. I’m about to throw the towel in. But we need a landline, so not sure what my options are now.
