Number port gone wrong

Hi folks,
On Monday I switched my broadband and phone line from Vodafone to TalkTalk. Everything seemed to work OK for a day (although I never checked my landline), then TalkTalk cancelled my service. According to their support, Vodafone didn't release my phone number to them, so they cancelled the service! They've suggested I start a new order, but I will get a new number.

Does anyone know if I can re-connect my Vodafone service that was disconnected a couple of days ago? It sounds like that might be the best option for me to keep hold of my phone number.
Thanks,
Alistair

So have TalkTalk left you with no broadband service at all? That seems very poor of them.

Are/were you still on the PSTN (phone connected to the BT socket), or had you moved to VoIP (phone connected to the router)?

Yes, I've no phone line or broadband. I'm on the PSTN. If you call the number, you hear a ringtone, but it doesn't route to my phone.

I could do with a way to find out whether my number is with Vodafone or Talktalk. I think this is something Openreach handle, but they're not contactable by a member of the public.

Have you raised a complaint with TalkTalk, they have handled this very badly. If they were having problems porting the number, they should at least have offered you a new one, not just left you without broadband.

A complaint to Ofcom may also be useful. https://www.ofcom.org.uk/make-a-complaint/

Thanks. I think my only option is to throw the dice on a new connection with TalkTalk and hope they recover my number.
I'll make an Ofcom complaint when I know the outcome.
