Phone connection to router

I have an rj11 adaptor to connect my landline direct to green output on router. It doesn’t work.

Do I have to change any settings in the router to make the green sockets live?

If yes , how?

If not, any other suggestions.

This will only work if you are on Gigafast, and the phone line settings have been set up for you - in which case you plug in a regular phone and it should work.

If on the other hand, you are on Superfast, then you have to use a splitting faceplate or in line splitter!

What is a splitting faceplate and how do I use it.

also where do you get one?

It better known as a filtered faceplate and it allows you to do away with the plug-in filter.

You can get them on Amazon and Ebay or from specialist dealers.

Here is one on Amazon complete with master socket.

There will be lots of videos on YouTube showing how to fit them, but you aren't supposed to replace the master socket yourself, but depending on your current socket you may be able to just replace the faceplate.

Edit: Mind you, if you are using a plug-in filter, and you should be if you don't have a filtered socket, you just plug the phone into the other side.
