So there are number of threads on here about getting VOIP working and i've read through some of them but has anyone done a summary of the settings that work so the rest of us don't need to dig through 100s of pages of back and forth conversation trying to find the crumbs of information we need?
I have contacted VF support and got the SIP details from them. And I am reasonably confident I have all the other settings i need but I think I am running into a weird DNS problem and I'm not sure how to solve it. Might need to talk to VF directly.
All of the stuff i have read so far says that the registrar should be resvoip.vodafone.co.uk and the proxy should be something ending in bbvoice.vodafone.co.uk.
The problem is i cannot resolve these addresses from my connection even if I specifically connect to VF's DNS servers directly.
This is the output from nslookup on my machine:

This seems to be the same for any device on my network, weather i use VF's dns or not. As a result none of the VOIP stuff is working for me. Am i missing something? Is this likely to be something local, or do i need to contact VF and get something enabled?

After some more digging I spotted "mouldybread"s Github page: https://github.com/mouldybread/VodafoneUKVOIPConfig (for anyone also looking) which does consolodate most of the useful info, however this also doesn't completely solve the DNS issue.
They outline on the github page that the DNS requests must be SRV requests so I have tried setting the type to SRV in nslookup which helps a bit for the bbvoice proxy address, but still doesnt provide an IP, and cant resolve the resvoip address at all.

I have tried 3 different voda DNS servers, 90.255.255.90, 90.255.255.91, and 90.255.255.255. Same result.
Any ideas?

Hi, I just spotted your post and don't have the time right now but I am very interested in comparing notes as I had a VOIP HT801 setup which worked right up until the end of September when it did not. I am wondering if Vodafone have moved the goal posts while I continue to trouble shoot my system. For Vodafone broadband I use DNS servers to 90.255.255.90 and 90.255.255.255 but on the Vodafone Router which have had to use to get VOIP working DNS is set to Dynamic so it could be using anything.

Again no time right now however I have just got my HT801 working again, I need to do some double checking but what is definite is my TP-Link modem router is using DNS servers to 90.255.255.90 and 90.255.255.255 My HT801 is using DNS servers to 90.255.255.91 ??? and 90.255.255.255.

It may be set to use it, but I suspect it's only using the second one,
There is no server responding to pings on 90.255.255.90 (yes I know that doesn't mean it's not there, but I'd expect a response from a DNS server)

@Jayach I bet they've tightened down all the ports and ping is off to protect the server as much as possible.

Back again for any one doing battle VOIP I have just stumbled upon this (link below) post which seems to have been made by someone who is not quite stumbling around in the dark like the rest of us. I have yet to check it out but just wanted to keep the topic alive.

Note - where xbn.Z4.bbvoice.vodafone.co.uk is specified in these configurations, there are in fact several different servers, and the server is specific to each account. If this is wrong the bbvoice.vodafone.co.uk server will not respond to queries. The proxy should be included in the digital voice connection settings given by vodafone - guessing or copying someone else's settings is like spitting in the wind, though occasionally one does hit the eye.
DNS should be 90.255.255.91 & 90.255.255.255

Not quite right, I stumbled onto the status page on the Vodafone router where it gives some details which include the DNS servers which I can now confirm as Primary DNS IPv4 Address 90.255.255.90 Secondary DNS IPv4 Address 90.255.255.255 however it seems to me just possible that the VOIP part of the box is differently configured and there are no details visible and I don't know if that is even possible.

You, ll see from the original thread that I was involved in cracking digital voice. I can assure you it's 90.255.255.91.
