Hi, I moved phone number and broadband to Vodafone from BT last December and am encountering a stange issue currently. I dont know how long this has been a problem but nobody can phone my landline number and I cant make calls from my landline number. There is however a dial tone if I pick up the phone. When I try to dial a number (have tried a few numbers) I get an error message saying the number is not recgonised. When I try and phone the landline number from my mobile it makes a weird noise (not a standard ringing noise) and the house phone doesnt ring. Pretty sure it must be an issue with my phone line and not the phone as there is def a dial tone when I pick up the phone. Any ideas?

Do you know if you moved from FTTC to FTTP (full fibre connection) when transferring over to Vodafone? If you have, you'll need to plug the phones into the back of the router instead.
However, if the above is the case I'm not quite sure why the dial tone is going weird...

hi, yeh vodafone had to install a new router and and also a little black box on the wall that connects to the new fibre wiring outside, I just checked the back of the new router however and there isnt a RJ11 slot for the phone. I think you are on to something though, ive had the phone connected to the old BT socket and my calls now with vodafone, just cant work out how to connect the phone, maybe I need a new phone?

Just to make sure we're on the same page... An RJ11 is this: https://ce8dc832c.cloudimg.io/v7/_cdn_/95/B0/50/00/0/330585_1.jpg?width=640&height=480&wat=1&wat_url...
The router should have 2 green TEL ports that are RJ11 ports, you may need an adapter or if your phone doesn't have a removable cable which you can connect the RJ11 to RJ11 internet line that comes supplied with the Vodafone router (if the phone actually does have an RJ11 port for the phone line).
Hope this makes sense, let me if this works.

No worries, as @Jayach and myself have mentioned above; try using that internet line that comes in the box to replace that cable on your phone and plug it into the router.
Let us know how you get on.

Just to say, when you do get the phone connected correctly, it may still not work, as Vodafone are good at not configuring it properly at their end.

ive got the phone now connected to the router, however the phone light on the router is off and theres a message on the screen of my phone saying "check phone line" and theres no dial tone, does this mean its an issue on vodafones end you think?

Definitely. Try using Live Chat. https://www.vodafone.co.uk/bbservcd/ to report it.

tried this, the guy advised me to turn the power on and off for the router, didnt solve it so hes arranging for an engineer to come to my house, didnt think it would be this complicated!
