I have a mifi dongle with a vodafone simcard and consistently for months/over a year the connection entirely drops at 23:33. Some days it doesn't happen but some days it does, but it's always at exactly 23:33. This only happens when I am using 3G but I prefer to use it because my 4G signal has intermittent ping issues.
Usually I'm able to reconnect in a few minutes and no more than ten.
Does anyone know why this might be happening? I'm assuming it might be some issue with the radio tower near me idk? I don't travel or move around so I can't say for certain if it happens elsewhere and imagine it wouldn't.
I'm switching to lebara soon which uses the same network so I'll be curious to see if I have the same issue.

Hi @deadpan, thanks for getting in touch! It's very hard to say as you've not tried the dongle in another location, though it's strange that it happens at exactly the same time. It seems like some kind of refresh is happening, either with the device itself or with the local mast that it's connecting to.
If you'd like to provide your postcode, we'll be happy to check your local mast for any issues with the 3G signal 👍

Hiya thanks for the response
Yes I just figured it's not my device itself since it doesn't happen with a 4g signal and it's happened ever since I got the device persisting through resets and sim changes etc, I suppose I could confirm or deny this by testing the sim in my phone
My postcode is DN9 I'd love if you could check for issues with the mast please, not sure if you need the full postcode thanks

Thanks for getting back to us @deadpan, on a whole the DN9 area is looking pretty stable. If you could let us know your full postcode, or add this to your Community profile, we'll be able to check which mast you're connected to so we can get a clearer picture 🙂

Hiya,
the postcode is DN9 1RW
I have some more info too I can clarify this happens on a Lebara sim card too which uses the vodafone network. The behaviour is exactly the same and occurs at exactly 23:33 only using the 3g connection, the 4g connection doesn't have this same issue.
Thanks

Thanks @deadpan! As you've advised this is an intermittent issue, we'd need to investigate your connection whilst the signal has dropped to get to the bottom of the cause. The next time your 3G signal drops, please get in touch with our Social Media team, and they can do a full signal investigation with you there and then to see if they can pinpoint the cause.
As you've advised it's happening at a set time, do you have any reoccurring updates set to install before midnight?

Thanks for the response. The issue usually does not last for more than a few minutes so maybe it'd be best for me to contact them a certain time before it occurs with the information? I will be reconnected before any tests are able to be done since it's a very short dc.

Here are some of the things you can try to get your internet back and running smoothly in no time.
Check the Cables.
Move Closer to the Router.
Power Cycle your Components.
Update your Network Drivers and Firmware.
Disable Cloud-Based Apps.
Limit Network Activity. .
Check for External Interference.
Greeting,
Rachel Gomez
Switch to Ethernet.

Rachel... my issue has been resolved for a while but these tips you posted are kind of useless, as my original post detailed this was an odd quirk with my mobile broadband which was actually never resolved. I simply moved to fibre and quit trying to use mobile broadband as my main internet.
No more responses to this thread are necessary thanks
