Hi, I have just recently joined Vodafone from 02 and my 4g is poor even though I have a mast under a mile away ! I have done speed checks regularly and it seems during the day it is below 5mbs and better later at night around 8/9pm which it is then around 23mbs .So frustrating as cannot watch and stream Netflix etc. Did not have this problem with O2 ! Is my mast being throttled down ? I live in a rural area and understand it’s not going to be as good as fibre but surely I should be getting faster 4g in the day ?
many thanks

Hi @Panda1705 I'm very sorry to hear about the network speed issues you are facing since joining us. Please double check your area on our Network Checker here, for any issues or upgrades that may affect the speeds.

If you see no issues with the checker, please get in touch with us here.

Data speeds are not dictated purely by the presence of a network site, or "a mast". They're dictated by the amount of spectrum/capacity deployed on an individual site, divided by the amount of usage.

O2 & VF have their own independent spectrum holdings, and their own deployment strategies. Just because one network performs well in a given area, even if their mutual sites are on the same structure, performance can vary wildly.

Although rural sites tend to have less spectrum deployed, their usage is generally lower - so performance should be generally even.

Did you test VF's service using a PAYG SIM before moving across?
