No Internet access via WIFI hotspot

I've set up a WIFI hotspot on my phone (a Huawei P9 Plus running Android 7.0). Devices can connect to my phone fine with WIFI, but then they all report there is no Internet access. Internet works fine on my phone. I have a good 4G signal.

I've just been on the phone to technical services for an hour. They talked me through reentering APN details and reset my account but it hasn't helped, which doesn't surprise me.

What can I try next?

Hey @Adwbwfc, this thread is pretty old now, is there anything I can help you with?

No  thanks I'm all good now. I know it's old just thought I'd say thanks anyway because it helped massively solve my problem.

but not really smiley happy because the issue wasn't actually resolved, some of us cannot do a factory reset.

No need for a factory reset. Just follow what sarvesh3dwivedi advised at the bottom of page 1.

I can't edit my existing vodafone APN settings... though I can see them, and some of those "words" are missing from the APN type, but the only option I have is to add a new APN, which requires me to input whole lot of settings that I wouldn't know. I had considered copying all the other settings that I can see in the existing vodafone APN but one of the fields is a password which is displayed as: *** - so I have no way of knowing what that should be.

Btw, I tried the "restore default settings" but that didn't fix the problem for me.

Can anyone please help?

I an sharing screen shots of APN settings. Just change the starting two ie NAME and APN as per your service provider rest APN settings can be changed as per my screen shots.

Thank you so much, I was worried it wouldn't work if I left all the other fields "not set", but it's finally working now :Smiling:

Thanks for your patience with noobs like me.

😀The pleasure is all mine.

I'm pretty sure everyone who has posted in this thread has tried the basic hotspot set up guide. that's how we manage to even get connected to the hotspot. we get connected but then there is no internet.

Hi everyone

I came access the same issue and resolved it by changing the APN settings of my service provider.

Simply change the APN type to

default,supl,agps,fota,dun,hipri

As shown in the image alongside.
